Lewis Visits Essex
Lewis Caple popped over for a whirlwind tour of Essex bringing with him his overworked assistants fatty and al. On Saturday he visited his gran and grandad giving his assistants time off for shopping and sleeping. Overnight he did some crying to remind us all its a busy life being a baby and on Sunday Continue reading

Little Children
Very good character led story. The cinematography was excellent and I really liked the mood and feel of this film. The film also includes a really funny cynical narration on some parts of the film which emphasised the characters. 8/10 Continue reading

Ants are amazing
Further to my previous post on the excellent documentary about ants. There is an article on the bbc website about a study on army ants and how they use their own bodies to block potholes to give their ant buddies a better route in-between prey and nest. Continue reading

The Long Take – Children of Men
Although the story in the Children of men was done poorly. The direction in this film was superb. I particularly like the long shot when Clive Owen and the members of the terrorist organisation the “Fishes” are attacked. Continue reading

Black Book
Excellent film, a really good gripping story. A brilliant performance by Carice van Houten who plays the central character Rachel Steinn. 9/10 Continue reading

Garden Day
An absolutely beautiful day on Sunday. Had a quick spin on my bike first thing and then spent most of the rest of the day tidying the garden up. Everything is growing like mad after all the rain we have had recently. The frogs were enjoying the sun as well. Continue reading

Pans Labyrinth
Had the Corkys over for a Movie night on Saturday and we all enjoyed this film. I think I would like to watch it again sometime as subtitled films are bit hard to follow after you’ve had a couple of beers and some wine… 7/10 Continue reading

Spiderman 3
Not so good, in fact quite rubbish. I am giving it 4/10 and thats for a great cgi sequence when the sandman comes to life. Not even watching Kirsten Dunst for a couple of hours could improve this film for me. Continue reading

Nephew News
Been to Swindon to meet our nephew this weekend. He managed to fit us in, in his busy schedule of feeding, sleeping, pooing and blubbing. He’s a nice little chap, he didn’t even whinge too much when auntie K who was getting nappy experience, put the wet one back on! At least she had a Continue reading

The Queen
Very good. Helen Mirren was very good but I think Michael Sheen as Tony Blair deserved more recognition for his performance. 7/10 Continue reading

Little Ginger
K had her scan yesterday and there is little ginger! To be honest, for me, up until now it has all seemed a bit unreal and to see a little ginger on the screen really brought it home to me that, yeah, it is really happening. I was quite blown away by how much you Continue reading

Cotes d’Armor – Brittany
Just had a great time in Brittany. We hired a little cottage (which was a little smelly with Blue and yellow decor) but it was really sweet and dead cosy. The area around us was beautiful, it was a great place to chill out. The coast was gorgeous and we spent most days walking the Continue reading

Lewis has arrived!
After 20 hours of labour our fatty has produced a Lewis! I got the call from K at 4.30pm this afternoon, I was so chuffed for them I actually felt quite emotional, I nearly pulled over in the lay by for a sob! I had been thinking about them all day. Poor old fatty huffing Continue reading

Sunshine
Very very good one of the best sci-fi’s we’ve seen for a long time. The film looks superb, I was a bit frustrated with Danny Boyles direction in the action scenes. I would have preffered to see some longer shots rather than loads of short close up shots. Despite that it still gets 9/10 N.B Continue reading

Lurvely Weekend
Fantastic weather this weekend. Saturday was mums birthday so we went to the Compasses for tea. Its a nice pub in a really nice location and it was lovely sitting in the garden having a couple of beers. The meal although nice, was just too much money for too little food. Sunday k and I Continue reading

Solomon Islands Earthquake
Last week a massive earthquake struck the Solomon Islands. The resulting tsunami wiped at least thirteen villages and thousands were left homeless. On some islands, waves 10 metres high swept away villages and a hospital. The earthquake was so severe it lifted an island, Ranongga, 3 metres causing beaches to be extended by up to Continue reading

36 Quai des Orfevres and 300
Brilliant French thriller. Very tense, no doubt we’ll see the American remake soon but they will never be able to capture the mood and atmosphere of European films. It was great to see Gerard Depardieu and Daniel Auteuil starring in a film together again. I must dig out Jean de Florette. 8/10 Went to see Continue reading

Back to Work 🙁
Back to work today after a nice week off. We didn’t go away as we are off to France in 3 weeks time so stayed at home and did lots of domestic jobs and even some DIY! (eekk) Got a load of stuff sorted out and we had Gareth round to discuss loft development. I Continue reading

Children of Men
Great production, although I think the director spent too much time perfecting his long shots and creating a world of the future and forgot to focus on the story. A missed oppurtunity it could have been a lot better. The world was plunging into chaos but it was never explained why. Was it because there Continue reading
