  • 36 Quai des Orfevres and 300

Brilliant French thriller. Very tense, no doubt we’ll see the American remake soon but they will never be able to capture the mood and atmosphere of European films. It was great to see Gerard Depardieu and Daniel Auteuil starring in a film together again. I must dig out Jean de Florette. 8/10 Went to see Continue reading

  • Back to Work 🙁

Back to work today after a nice week off. We didn’t go away as we are off to France in 3 weeks time so stayed at home and did lots of domestic jobs and even some DIY! (eekk) Got a load of stuff sorted out and we had Gareth round to discuss loft development. I Continue reading

  • Children of Men

Great production, although I think the director spent too much time perfecting his long shots and creating a world of the future and forgot to focus on the story. A missed oppurtunity it could have been a lot better. The world was plunging into chaos but it was never explained why. Was it because there Continue reading

  • Pavement Drawings

These pavement drawings by Julian Beever are amazing. My favourite are the Anamorphic illusions which are drawn in a way to create a 3d effect from a certain angle, particularly the one where the artist appears to be diving into a pool. Continue reading

  • Life on Mars

  • John Harold Arnold Bramwell

Went to see JHAB play an acoustic set at the Loft in Cambridge last night. It was a great venue, a small bar in the loft above a pub. It was sold out and even then there was only about about a hundred people there. He was, as always, brilliant. I can never tire of Continue reading
