  • Fifty People, One Question: New York

Love this film of people stopped on a street in New York and asked one question, “what do you wish for by the end of the day?” N.B There’s also another one where they ask the same question in New Orleans. Continue reading

  • Poorly Shaun

Now I’ve got it! Was off work yesterday with a right proper stomach upset. Spent the day on the sofa watching episodes of “The Wire” so it wasn’t all bad….. Continue reading

  • Music Memories

I was thinking the other day about what music I remember from when I was a kid, and I think my earliest music memory is “I am a rock” by Simon and Garfunkel I remember playing the LP the “Sound of Silence” on my folks 8 track cassette player and thinking how clever this machine Continue reading

  • Beardy Shaun

While we were on hols I grew a bit of a beard. I quite liked it actually, although K wasn’t so keen. I’m thinking of giving it another go, what look do you think I should go for? Continue reading

  • Poorly Emma

Emma has caught a bug, her first one! She’s been quite poorly bless her, and its awful to see her all grumpy, she doesn’t even want to play with her birthday presents. I think she’s over the worst now though, she’s just really tired and washed out. Thanks for the Emma’s birthday wishes guys! N.B Continue reading

  • STILL offline :-(((((((

Its a long, boring and really annoying story but we are STILL offline, but hopefully this week we should be up and running. The plus side of having no computer is we have got loads of DIY done! The stairs and dining room are all finished and the new carpet is down in our bedroom, Continue reading

  • Off-line 🙁

Our computer seems to be pretty much dead, its decided to keep switching itself on and off. The repair guy said to me in very serious tones  “We think it could be the motherboard” so its not looking good….. On the plus side(?) maybe I’ll get the decorating done now! Continue reading

  • Whheeee

Al has uploaded a video of Emma on a swing at a wildlife park we visited. This was the first time she had done this and it really made us laugh!! Continue reading

  • The Orphanage

This Spanish film is one of those creepy chilling films, not a horror but just dead creepy. It reminded me of “The Others” but its much better than that. Can’t tell you much of the plot without ruining it for you but its basically the story of a mothers hunt for her son who goes Continue reading

  • Scotland

Scotland at this time of year is so beautiful, we couldn’t have wished for better weather and the autumn colours were amazing. We spent the week in a gorgeous house on the hills above Loch Tay. The nine of us had a great time. We had some fabulous days and I think my strongest memories Continue reading

  • Northumberland

The three of us  spent the second week of our hols in Northumberland. We had a lovely week walking on the coast, visiting castles and just hanging out. Very relaxing! more piccies Continue reading

  • Emma’s first words

Emma is starting to say quite a few words now. We were in a toy shop yesterday and there was a duck which hangs on a spring from the ceiling, she pointed and said “duck duck” so we bought it for her birthday. So its official “duck duck” are her first words! Continue reading

  • Dear Blog

This morning Emma switched the telly on with the remote control, changed channel and started to watch Jeremy Kyle. Do I need to worry? Continue reading

  • Trip to the Zoo

This was quite an adventure for me as I have only ever been to a zoo once (I think) and that was about thirty years ago. Emma has been, but she was only about 5 months old so it was a big day for both of us. Colchester zoo is fantastic, reputed to be one Continue reading

  • Year of Days Updated!

Check out Liz and I’s photos on Year of days Continue reading

  • Elbow at Cambridge

Fantastic gig last night, the band really do seem to be having the time of their lives having won The Mercury Music award. Guy was really on form, chatting and joking with the crowd. It didn’t really feel like a performance just more like you had gone to hang out with them for a night. Continue reading

Three weeks off –  whoop whoop! Off to see Elbow in Cambridge tomorrow night. Got some house stuff to do this week with a visit to the zoo on Wednesday and then off to Scotland for a week on Friday and a week in Northumberland after that. Hope the weather improves!! Continue reading

  • REC

This is a really good, full on, Spanish horror film. The central character is television reporter  who is filming a documentary of the local fire crew. One night the crew are called to an apartment building because a woman is trapped in her apartment. They break in with the police and the woman becomes extremely Continue reading

  • Taken

Liam Neeson plays Bryan, an ex-government agent whose daughter is kidnapped in paris while he is talking to her on the phone. This is pretty much your standard action film. The plot is pretty unbelievable, giving the impression that dodgy Albanians are lurking around kidnapping American women. The actress playing the daughter over plays her Continue reading

  • Great Weekend

Charlie and Spud came for tea on Saturday and we had a right good night. Really enjoyed playing cards, its been ages since I last played. Sunday, the weather was gorgeous and there was no way we were going to do anything house related so we headed off on a cruise on the bikes stopping Continue reading

  • 1996 McDonalds Hamburger

This lady is a nutrition consultant and her favourite prop that she uses when she’s teaching parents about healthy eating for children is this hamburger. She bought in 1996 and it still looks exactly the same… how scary is that? Continue reading

  • Happy Go Lucky

Well what can I say… this isn’t total rubbish… Poppy, a Primary school teacher is irrepressibly upbeat and cheerful, she’s really likeable and she’s a fun character to watch but that’s all you do. Not much else happens really, she goes to work, has flamenco lessons, has fun with her friends and the only interesting Continue reading

  • London Freewheel

Had a fantastic day today, we took part in the London Freewheel, an event where a 12 km traffic free route is created from Buckingham Palace to Trafalgar Square, along Embankment and ending at Tower Hill.
