  • Al Gores Nobel Lecture

Reading Al Gores Nobel lecture he gave when he received the prize just brings it home to you how different the world would be today had he become president. There is no doubt that we would be much further ahead in combating climate change as yet again the Bush administration fails to agree to anything Continue reading

  • Top Sunday – Photo by K

Good day today. We met up with the Corkys and went for a splendid hike along the railway path in Sudbury. It was one of my favourite weather days, a lovely clear day and really cold. The kids enjoyed it, they snoozed pretty much all the way in their cosy carriers! After the walk we Continue reading

  • Venus

Rather liked this film about an old man’s infatuation with a much younger woman. Its quite a good story, extremely well acted by Peter O Toole and Leslie Phillips. The relationship between the two old men is quite touching and the banter between them is dead funny. 7/10 Continue reading

  • If we had no moon

Fascinating article on the origin of the moon and the effect it has on the earth. Particularly interesting is the effect the moon has on the oceanic tides and how this effects our weather and also how the moon has been a stabilising factor on the axis of rotation of the earth. Continue reading

  • Ice Storm

Amazing photos of the recent ice storm which struck Oklahoma and Missouri. Continue reading

  • Adjusting

Its been ok this week but it’s felt really weird. After having a sort of routine at home for the last three weeks and then returning to work on Monday and sort of going back to reality I felt really lost and confused. I really missed my girls on Monday but as the week has Continue reading

  • Unknown

Quite an interesting(ish) story about a group of men kidnapped and locked in a factory. A chemical accident causes them to lose their memories. Piecing together information around them, they realise that some were kidnapped and some were the kidnappers. They decide they must work together to figure out how to get away before the Continue reading

  • This weekend

This weekend has been the last couple of days of leave before I return to work tomorrow 🙁 . The weather has been totally rubbish and we didn’t hardly get out of the house yesterday as it just rained and rained. Today though, we got out for a nice walk even though it rained again. Continue reading

  • People are so nice

Over the last couple of weeks we have received some really lovely presents for Emma. • Mums on the mend

Mum had her blood test results yesterday and it was all good news. She has still got to complete her treatment but it’s going quite well and the side effects haven’t been too bad, just leaving her really tired. Continue reading

  • Check out my buns!

I made these butternut squash and walnut muffins today and they were yummy. I took some to the Corkys and they got the Corky cake seal of approval. Its another recipe from Jamie Olivers new book. Continue reading

  • High Wire

I just love the narration on this amazing film about a guy who maintains high voltage power lines, I could listen to his voice all day. “I don’t give two hoots and a holler about flying inside a helicopter, put me outside that’s where I wanna be, on a magic carpet.” Continue reading

  • Lovely day

Had a really late night last night as K was not too well and Emma was a bit grumpy so I didn’t really get to sleep until 5am or so. I was up at 10 though and it was a lovely day so I got out on my bike for a spin. It was great, Continue reading

  • A whole new experience

Had a nice day yesterday, we went into town to register Emma and do a bit of shopping. It still feels a bit weird pushing the pram around but it was cool. I’m amazed at peoples reaction to Emma, while I was waiting for K, a lady came up to me and she was chatting Continue reading

  • The Scientist

I don’t know about you but sometimes I just get a song or a scene from a film stuck in my head and it will just keep playing around in head for ages. For the last couple of days its been “The Scientist” by Coldplay. It’s superb song but its the video which is on Continue reading

  • First week

This last week has been really special, we have spent a lovely week at home getting to know each other. Emma is just so cool, dead laid back and tolerated me fluffing around a bit. She is eating loads now and even though she dropped from 7lbs 11 to 7lbs 4, she is now back Continue reading

Had a nice day today, K is well chuffed with breastfeeding progress and we even got out for a little walk this afternoon. It was quite a strange experience pushing a pram and I felt like a right proper proud dad. I always thought I would feel a bit self concious and I did for Continue reading

This is the yummy tea I cooked tonight. This week I have been put in charge of all the cooking. Its been quite nice actually as I never usually cook but I do enjoy it when I do it. I found a Gary Rhodes recipe on The Guardian website for Stir-fried chicken with tomatoes, basil Continue reading

  • Cars are no fun

Today was a gorgeous day, we needed a few bits so rather than use the car I decided to cycle the 6 miles or so to Sainsburys as I haven’t had any exercise for a few days. Nearly all of the route I took was traffic free and I was able say hello to people Continue reading
